Mangaluru: Theft in Surathkal - Thieves turn richer by Rs 14 lac

Mangaluru, Jul 14: Thieves who entered the house of Laxman Moolya in Surathkal escaped after stealing gold ornaments worth Rs 14 lac.

Laxman Moolya works as a plant operator for Hindustan Petroleum 'Corporation Ltd. He along with family members had visited his house at Bantwal on July 10. On returning to Surreal on July 11, the family found that the thieves had broken open the front door of the house and taken away a number of gold ornaments worth Rs 14 lac. Three almirahs inside the house were broken open and burgled.

The thieves also committed theft in a neighbouring house in Surathkal. The owner of that house is yet to lodge a complaint.
