Bantwal, Jul 15: Senior member of Vittal town panchayat Ashok Kumar Shetty and former president Damayanti resigned to the primary membership of Congress party.
In addition, Ashok Kumar Shetty tendered his resignation to the position of Dakshina Kannada district Congress secretary also.

Ashok had worked relentlessly as a member of the district planning committee and leader of the opposition. He had won the election for four consecutive terms. He was a member of the gram panchayat for three terms and town panchayat for one term.
Ashok was not only a politician but also a good sportsperson. He had won many laurels in bodybuilding.
Damayanti was the president of Vittal town panchayat in her second term.
