1. Remove the Cushion Cover

The best memory foam cushions come with a removable cushion cover that you can zip off. You effortlessly have to remove the cushion cover and put it in the washing machine for a cold water rinse.

However, it is better to first read the instructions given by the manufacturer on how to clean it. But you should never put your memory foam seat cushion in the dryer or washing machine. This is because the washing machine can tear or damage the foam and the dryer can heat the foam.

2. Vacuum the Foam

If you identify any debris on your memory foam after removing the cover then you can use a handheld vacuum cleaner to clean it up. This also helps in removing all the dust that might have accumulated on the foam.

3. Prepare Water 

If you are not going to use the washing machine then you need to prepare clean water in a basin and add a detergent you wish to use. The amount of water and size of the basin depends on the size of the memory foam seat cushion or cushion cover you want to clean.

You can use a smaller basin or bucket if it is smaller in size or you can fill your bathtub if the cushion is large. You must also use a trusted detergent that doesn’t have harsh chemicals that will react with your memory foam cushion.

4. Submerge In the Water

You can submerge your cushion or cushion cover in the prepared water. If it is the cushion cover, you can identify any stains and wash them off to ensure it is clean. However, if you have submerged the memory foam, then press it gently down to fully submerge.

Afterward, flip it back and forth into the water repeatedly over time as it helps to clear the stains and debris on your memory foam cushion.

5. Rinse Your Cushion

When you have removed all the stains on your cushion, you can rinse it. Remove it from the soapy water and drain the water from the basin. Then pour clean water into the basin and put back the cushion fully submerged. Rinse your cushion as you gently squeeze it until it’s no longer soapy.

6. Dry Your Cushion

After rinsing your memory foam cushion, then you have to dry it. Get some clean towels and wrap them around them as you squeeze them gently to dry. For each towel that gets soaked, swap it for a dry one as this quickens your drying process.

If you feel most of the water has been removed then you can take it outside in the sun to dry. You can also dry it indoors in a warm and sunny spot.
