Bengaluru: DCTE inks MoU with Unacademy for online training

Bengaluru, Jul 22: To enhance the Competitive Examination ability of students and placing a sizeable number of Kannadigas in the Administrative and public domain services of the governments, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE) and leading online learning platform Unacademy on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayana, who is also the Minister for Higher Education, said this pact is expected to better prepare students to benefit from the opportunities of around 3 lakh Jobs every year for which several government departments are issuing notifications.

The aspiration behind this program is to hone the intellect, ability, and talent of Kannadiga students through expert training so that their potential is identified at the National/State level in the Administrative Services of the Central and State Governments and Services like Banking Group etc., he explained.

Under this MoU, Coaching for Competitive Examinations will be given to 1500 students every year for a period of 03 years (2021-2024) and 4500 students will be trained.

Students will be selected for this training program based on their performance in Online examination conducted twice a year with a 6 months gap in between, Dr Narayana said.

Scholarships will be given to students selected and will also be given a free subscription to Unacademy Plus.

The potential beneficiaries of this program are the Final Year or pre-Final students of UG/PG of Government First Grade Colleges, Polytechnics, Engineering Colleges, and Universities.

The MoU was signed by P Pradeep, Commissioner DCTE, and Vivek Sinha, Chief Operating Officer of Unacademy was exchanged between the State Government and the company.

Kumar Nayak, Additional Chief Secretary to Higher Education and other senior officials were present.

Dr Narayan meets Japan Consul General

The Deputy Chief Minister meet the Japanese Consul General Akiko Sugita in Bengaluru on the participation of Japanese companies in next year’s Bengaluru Tech Summit.

Dr Narayan, who is also the State’s IT/BT as well as Science and Technology Minister, said as many as 529 leading Japanese companies including Toyota, Honda etc. had their companies in the State and Karnataka and Japan had extremely cordial industrial ties.

He said Karnataka expected greater participation from Japan in the Bengaluru Tech Summit being held next year and hoped for more investments.
