Udupi, Sep 16: In the Mangalore University level inter-collegiate body building competition held here on Wednesday September 15, Sanal Padmanabhan of Moodbidri Alva’s college emerged as ‘Mr Mangalore University’.  The competition was held at Samaj Bhavan, Ajjarkad here. While Alva’s college topped in performance, Sri Gokarnanatheshwara College team from Mangalore stood second, by scoring eight points as against 36 put together by Alva’s College.

In the weight lifting competition too, men’s and women’s teams of Moodbidri Alva’s College got hold of the championships. While the men’s team of this college has bagged the championship for the third time in a row, the women’s team has got it for the second time.

By putting together 53 points, the men’s weight lifting team of Alva’s College got Prof Richard Rebello rolling trophy, by pushing Ujire SDM College to second spot. Moodbidri Sri Dhavala College had to be content with the third spot.

The women’s team of Alva’s College, which collected 70 points, was presented with Shirva Blossom Manson Celestine D’Souza trophy. Shirva St Mary College stood second, relegating SDM College Ujire to third spot.

Ganesh S R of Ujire SDM College, who set a new record, bagged the ‘best weight lifter award for men’, while Sumita V M of Alva’s College was adjudged the ‘best woman weight lifter’.
