Bangalore: Governor Accepts Ramachandra Gowda Resignation

Bangalore, Sep 17 (PTI): Governor H R Bhardwaj on Friday accepted the resignation of Ramachandra Gowda, who quit last week after being embroiled in a controversy over alleged irregularities in recruitment of staff for two state-run medical colleges in Hassan and Mysore.

On the advice of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who was away in China when Gowda quit, the Medical Education portfolio has been allocated to Home Minister Dr V S Acharya, Raj Bhavan sources said.

Yeddyurappa also confirmed that the Governor has accepted the resignation. Gowda, once a confidant of Yeddyurappa, was asked to quit by the Chief Minister on September 5 following alleged recruitment scandal, an issue now pending before the High Court.
