Mangalore: ‘Karavali Utsav’ from December 22

Mangalore, Sep 18: At the second meeting held as a precursor to holding of the annual ‘Karavali Utsav’ in the city on Thursday September 16, it was decided to hold the event from December 22 onwards. The meeting was chaired by Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, V Ponnuraj.

The meeting decided to give more prominence to cultural programmes which showcase the art and cultural heritage of the district, and to make room for the participation of school students in them. The responsibility for organizing sports events was vested with Nidarsh Hegde, while Yatish Bykampady was given the responsibility of organizing the customary ‘Beach Utsav’.

Additional DC, Prabhakar Sharma, district president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Pradip Kumar Kalkura, Chandrashekhar Shetty of Satanana Natyalaya, and a few other dignitaries extended suggestions towards making the Utsav more attractive.
