Daijiworld Media Network – Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Sep 18: An ex-serviceman named Taniappa (54), was found to have been Stabbed to death, on the morning of Friday September 17 by unknown assailants. He was working as a security guard for Karkala branch of State Bank of Mysore, and was residing at Basti in Bommarabettu near Hiriyadka.

In a complaint filed with the police, Ashish, son of Taniappa, has expressed suspicion that Dharmendra, a Nepali by origin, was behind the murder. He said his parents often fought over allowing Dharmendra to visit their home, and that he and his father were against Dharmendra coming to their home often. He suspects that Dharmendra, angered by their stiff opposition to his frequent visits, would have killed his father.

Suma, wife of Taniappa, told her daughter staying in a hostel in Mangalore at around 3.30 am on Friday about the murder. Taniappa's body was found in the hall of the house, and it is said, Suma did not know what had happened, as she had consumed sleeping pill before going to bed. Ashish, who works in Malpe, was away at the time.

A case has been registered in Hiriyadka police station. The policemen have arrested Dharmendra, a tailor by profession, working in Manipal. The policemen are looking into the angle of Suma's role in the murder. Investigations have been taken up. Taniappa is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
