Udupi: Family Accuses Relatives of Committing Theft

Udupi, Sep 18: In a complaint filed with Manipal police station, Shamira Banu (38) from Manipura village near here, has alleged that the elder sister of her husband and her children, who had visited her home recently, had stolen 24.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments from her house, value of which has been estimated at three lac rupees.

“Meharunnisa, her children, Imranand Shabana, and her daughter-in-law, Reshma, had visited our house on September 15. When we were in the kitchen, the visitors went to our bedroom, and took away ornaments placed in a steel almirah. We came to know of the theft only later. We observed that the key of the almirah had gone missing from the spot where we had kept it. The almirah was found to have been opened, and the locker inside was in locked position,” she has explained in the complaint.

The policemen have registered a case. Investigation is being taken up.
