Udupi: St Mary’s College, Shirva to Introduce MSW/MCom Courses from Sep 25

Udupi, Sep 20: St Mary’s College, Shirva, near here will introduce postgraduate programmes, MSW and MCom from the current academic year. The course will formally introduced in a function to be held at Saude auditorium in the college campus, here on Saturday September 25.

Dr P L Dharma, professor and chairperson of political science department of Mangalore University will inaugurate the MSW and MCom programmes at 2.30 pm. 

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore diocese will preside. Udupi deanery episcopal vicar Fr Baptist Menezes and Mangalore-based Father Muller Medical College Hospital administrator Fr Richard Coelho will be the chief guests. 

About the College

St Mary’s College has been serving the higher education needs of Shirva and surrounding villages since 1980. Until 2009, the college has been offering only BA / BCom courses. The management began BBM and BCA courses at the undergraduate level and now begin MSW and MCom courses at the postgraduate level from the current academic year considering the needs of the times and also give a quality push to these traditional courses. 

The starting of the new courses demanded extended work area in the form of library, classrooms staff rooms and sanitation facilities. The management has already undertaken extension work of the already existing building at an estimated cost of Rs 75 lac to house these courses.

    This is a College I admire, Although I did not study there.!!!! Had I studied there I would have been in a different orbit now..!!! I am writing about the dedication of their lecturers way back in 1978 - 1980. I still hope that they have the same standard. All the best to St. Mary's College ,Shirva.
