Mangalore, Sep 21: “Adopt  holistic  approach  to  bring  up  your  children," urged  Fr Clifford Fernandez,  professor  of  St Joseph Seminary, Jeppu here on Monday September 20 to Catholic parents of St Mary’s English Medium Higher Primary School, Falnir.

“Physical fitness like  playing  outdoor  games,  exercise  and  even  playing  in  the  mud, intellectual fitness like general knowledge, spiritual fitness like prayer and interpersonal fitness like dialogue  with  neighbours are  the  four  important pillars of holistic approach, he said. This apart the children should be taught values like honesty, respecting the elders, being responsible, compassion, patience, forgiveness and generosity.”

He  also said that parents only give birth to children and teachers give education , while God gives life and wisdom to  children. He gave examples from the works of great Konkani novelist late A T Lobo and Khalil Gibraan to elaborate further.
