Mangalore: Trouble at Passport Office as Angry Applicants Protest

Mangalore, Sep 22: Annoyed by the lethargy and apathy of the officials at the city's passport office, some of the applicants staged a brief protest here on Tuesday September 21.

The applicants, who had been waiting for hours in queues gave vent to their anger when they were told to come the next day. Some of them even tried to barge into the office which resulted in a scuffle between the staff and the protesters.

However, the police soon arrived at the spot and put an end to the matter.

    Wherever bribe takes place that office better to close down. Even during Passport office opened near D.C. office, officer asked me to take 25 pages photocopy of my daughters full passport for renewal even though she has travelled 12times to gulf. It was cheap way of sharing money from photocopy office near D.C. office.

    All fools are sitting in dept to make money without any ethics and to loot innocent educated people thru their authority. Good people must object in big way, do not care for them you will looted day light. This is happening regularly and what responsible officials are doing to control, nothing they only make money.

    If you protest then only govt. officials come on their line, Media people must expose them. Why people has to stand on que from 5a.m. Do systematic way it will work, if bribe involves it will never work, wake up Mangaloreans, do not give way for corruption. This is our right.

    Its very bad situation being in Q at passport office in Manglore. First of all the applicants need to be on line by 5am then only they get a chance by 10 to 11am to get in apart from that there are brokers in between take Rs 200 to be on Q & let their client be on line early. Many scandals many!! Many making policies are happening out of the passport office.
    Its very important the local police should have a very close eye on such issues as well the passport office to be hi-tec. Since they know people are suffering let them give appointments by online or online application submitting etc.

    I’m hearing all the times that India is a super power we are growing etc but our basic requirements are been neglected result such clash.

    Our government (office) sector need a strong improvement, its no more government only its our office (public service / servants) till the time Govt employees don’t understand this we will be in same shoes.
