Beltangady, Oct 4: Bhajans are the most effective medium to prove devotion towards the almighty, said music director of Kannada filmdom Hamsalekha.
He was speaking as a chied guest at the valedictory ceremony of the Bhajana Kammata held at Dharmastala here by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Bhajana Tarabeti Samiti on Sunday October 3. While music is the most easiest way to reach God, bhajan is the simpler form of vedic chants. In the earlier days deep penance was one of the ways to please God, whereas bhajan singing is the easiest way to seek divine blessings for such singing as great power, he said.
He announced his decision of participating in the next kammata voluntarily through introducing to the world, an instrument Kankanaka invented by him.
Presiding over the programme, dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade said that music has the power to attract the all living beings in the universe. Bhajan has been instrumental in wiping out caste differences in the rural areas, he noted.
He said that though to be born as human beings as superior, it is a blessing only when the man forgoes evil chracters such as greed, envy, selfishness and pride among others.
Mohandas Swamiji of Sridhama Manila blessed the occasion. Comedian Tennis Krishna and Hemavati V Heggade among others were present.
