Mangaluru: AMRUT scheme - Angara wants 100% programme implementation in 27 villages

Mangaluru, Sep 7: On the occasion of completion of 75 years of independence, the state government has undertaken the ambitious task of the implementing AMRUT gram panchayat scheme in 750 villages in the first phase. At the selection committee meeting held at the auditorium of the deputy commissioner’s office on Monday September 6 which was presided by minister, Angara, 27 gram panchayats in the district were chosen and it was decided to develop them under the said scheme.

The minister, who noted that there are good chances of developing selected gram panchayats under the scheme, asked the taluk panchayat executive officers to make the best use of the scheme with the support of panchayat development officers. He said that 100 percent schemes should be implemented so that these gram panchayats should not face any problems henceforth. "If any obstacles are encountered in the implementation, the district level officials have to visit the spot and solve the problems. The list of homeless people should be brought to the notice of the MLA and get the scheme implemented in total," he advised.

MLAs Dr Bharath Shetty and Rajesh Naik, zilla panchayat chief executive officer, Dr Kumar, deputy secretary, Anand Kumar and taluk panchayat executive officers were present.

Under the said scheme, providing drinking water and street/solar lights, construction of AMRUT school rooms, repairs, drinking water in Anganwadis, disposal of solid waste and effluents, power connection to gram panchayat building, digitalisation of library, providing homes to the homeless etc will be undertaken. The gram panchayats have to complete 100 percent of the schemes within a year. Gram panchayats which successfully complete the task get Rs 25 lac unrestricted grant from the government.

Sangabettu, Iruvathur, Pilatabettu, Kadeshwalya, Balepuni and Idkidu in Bantwal taluk, Madantyar, Kokkada, Dharmasthala, Ujire, Hosangady and Aladangady in Beltangady, Savanur and Alankaru in Kadaba, Uppinangady, Arayapu, and Kabaka in Puttur, Aranthodu, Mandekolu, Markanja in Sullia, Beluvai, Thennkamijaru in Moodbidri and Badaga Yedapadavu, Ganjimath, Munnoor, Haleangady and Permude in Mangaluru taluk have been selected for overall development under the scheme.
