Kasargod: Karnataka's restrictions at border - MLA approaches Supreme Court

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Oct 5: Manjeshwar MLA A K M Ashraf has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking to annul the restrictions having been imposed by the Karnataka government on the people crossing over into Karnataka from Kerala.

He has urged the apex court to quash the condition imposed by Karnataka making it mandatory to produce RT-PCR test negative reports that are not more than 72 hours old, even when the people have got both the vaccinations. The court has also been requested to exempt students from this condition.

Ashraf has claimed that the regulatory measures enforced by Karnataka are a clear violation of human rights. He has complained that Karnataka is acting against the central government order which says that those who have obtained both the doses of the disease need not undergo RT-PCR tests.

Ashraf had earlier approached the Kerala high court seeking to quash the Karnataka government instructions relating to allowing entry into Karnataka, but the court had refused to entertain his application.

Checks should be there in destination, not on the way. Schools, colleges, hospitals, marriages and other religious functions, meetings, crowded vehicles etc are the covid spread areas. In these places, checking is ok if it is done properly. It is meaningless to check people in mid-way.

Meaningless rules by Karnataka, even after 75 years of Indian independence!. On the other side , officials earning money in remote borders (per person hundred rupees). It shows true illiteracy. Police & officials are busy here, where in other part of Karnataka rape cases are increasing day by day. Wake up Karnataka, stop these & start some developmental activities...
