Udupi: Abducted lorry driver found, accused at large

Udupi, Oct 6: Relating to a case in which a few persons had abducted a driver of a fish truck relating to money which they claimed was due to them from the driver, the policemen traced the abducted driver from Thiruvananthapuram and brought him back. The kidnappers had threatened to murder him and throw his body into the sea. A case regarding the same was filed at Manipal police station.

Suleiman from Koppa in Chikkamagaluru district has been working as a driver of a fish truck at Malpe. On September 30, he came to Malpe from his house in Koppa.

It is said that Suleiman, in addition to working as driver, also used to procure fish at Malpe and sell the same at a higher price in Kerala. Relating to some partnership dealings, the abductors claimed, Suleiman had to pay them money. The kidnappers have been identified as Hanas and his brothers from Kerala.

The abductors had called Suleiman's brother, Shamshuddin, by using Suleiman's mobile phone. They had said that Suleiman had to pay them Rs 15 lac and because of non-payment, he had been abducted. They asked Shamshuddin to pay Rs 15 lac and take Suleiman back.

Now Suleiman has been found and brought back. The abductors are missing and the police are continuing with investigation.
