Karwar: Missing Ore Case to CID

Karwar, Oct 27: Reliable sources said that the state government has decided to hand over the case relating to the iron ore worth about Rs 25 crore, which went missing from the local port, to the criminal investigation department (CID).

The said case is being handled by the police department at present. The government reportedly wants to hand over the case to CID before the High Court comes out with its verdict in the case about the disqualification of legislators.

Presently, Shubhalata Asnotikar, former MLC and mother of dissident minister, Anand Asnotikar, is the president of Karwar Port Workers Union. Recently, a social worker from here, Ashish Fernandes, had through a letter, urged the local policemen and the Lokayukta, to investigate the role played by Shubhalata in the missing ore case. Sources said that based on this letter, investigations are likely to be handed over to CID within a couple of days.
