Beltangady, Oct 28: New deputy commissioner (DC) of the district, Subodh Yadav, advised the government officials to strive to sort out problems wherever possible, locally, and work to ensure that benefits of various government schemes reach the beneficiaries. He also wanted the officials of different departments to work in tandem with others, so that the people are not put through undue hardships.

He was speaking after hearing the problems spelt out by the officials of the taluk, at a meeting held at the taluk panchayat hall here on Wednesday October 27.

“If the problems cannot be sorted out locally, they should immediately be brought to the notice of higher level officials of the departments. They should be followed up till a solution is found. The problems faced by the people should be redressed as early as possible,” he said.

At the meeting, officials came out with various problems. Most of the officers said staff shortage was their  main concern. Non-receipt of clear guidance from government, pending renovation work of taluk office, additional facilities like record room and scanning room, shortage of village accountants and D group employees, etc., were brought to his notice by tahsildar, M K Pramila.
