Kundapur: Leopard Dies After Falling Into Well

Kundapur, Oct 29: A leopard that was chasing a stray dog fell into a well in Mallari near Vandse in the taluk, early morning on Thursday October 28. The dog as well as the leopard died after falling into the well.

The leopard plunged into the 30-feet well located in the house of Chandra Ganiga in the said village, losing sight of the existence of the well while chasing its prey. The family members reached the well after hearing the roars of the fallen leopard. However, by then, both the leopard and the dog had drowned.

Local swimmers, Uday Devadiga and Sudarshan Ganiga, got into the well and helped in bringing out the carcasses of the animals. Forest officer, Sadanand, forester, Kiran Babu, and other locals helped in the operation. The body of the leopard was handed over to forest officials after retrieving it.
