Mangalore: Bengre Anand Amin Bags Four Gold at State Masters Swimming Championship

Mangalore, Nov 16: Belgaum-based ace swimmer Mangalorean Bengre Anand continuing his 35-year haul in the swimming pool, won four more gold medals in Masters Swimming Championship, state level event adding to the pool of more than 400 medals earned in his lifetime.

Bengre Anand Amin has collected four gold and two silver medals in the 12th Masters Championship, which concluded on Sunday November 15 at the Vijayanagara Swimming Centre, Bangalore.

Amin bagged gold medals in 50-metre freestyle and 100 mt breaststroke, 50 mt medley relay and 50 mt freestyle. He also won silver medal in 50 mt  breaststroke and Bengre Jagadish won the gold in this section. In the 100-meter breaststroke category Amin lost gold by a narrow margin winning silver.

Employee of Syndicate Bank, Anand Amin is now serving in Belgaum Central office of the bank and represented Mangalore Aquatic Club, Mangalore in the championship.

Multifaceted Talent

Amin, who is also a good wrestler, has bagged almost all the coveted wrestling titles in the state. He also won gold medal in the recently concluded state level dasara swimming competition held at Mysore. He has trained number of young wrestlers and swimmers in Mangalore and also Belguam. He was also the recipient of Rajyotsava Award by the state fifteen years ago along with other fifteen achievers from various fields.
