Bangalore, Nov 18: In a statement made at Bangalore on Thursday November 18, state Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, termed the news about collection of signatures of over 60 state legislators in a memorandum addressed to the BJP high command for affecting a change in the leadership in the state, as baseless rumour. He was reacting to stories about the revolt against his leadership emanating from different media.

Referring to linking of MP, Anant Kumar’s name to the alleged revolt, Yeddyurappa said that the party was built by himself and Anant Kumar together in the state, and that there were no differences of opinion between the two. “All these reports are just cock and bull stories. They have no substance,” he asserted.

Speaking in Bijapur, rural development and panchayat raj minister, Jagadish Shettar, too concurred with the above. “At present, there is no question of change in the leadership in the state government. This is just the creation of the media,” he commented. He said this issue has never come up for discussion at any of the party forums.

In the meantime, Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders have reportedly been pressurizing the BJP top brass to change the Chief Minister. It is said that the RSS leaders have expressed surprise at the fact that scandal in land deals of such a large scale had occurred in the state. BJP national president, Nitin Gadkari, is currently going through papers connected with the land denotification scam, to understand the magnitude of the issue and to decide on the futre of Yeddyurappa, reports have revealed.
