Mangalore: Palemar Seeks Active Participation of People in Government Projects

Mangalore, Nov 25: Speaking after inaugurating the new building of Mulky police station on Wednesday November 24, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, exhorted the local people to get actively involved with the programmes and projects of the government being executed in their respective places. The new building of the police station has been built at a cost of Rs 33 lac.

“Mulky police station has a history of about 150 years. The new building boasts of all the required facilities and infrastructure, and stands out as a model building for other police stations. It has come to be believed that a Muslim named Bappa Beary had built Bappanadu Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple here. The tradition of harmonious relationship between Hindus and Muslims that has stood the test of time in Mulky is an illustrious tradition that is fit to be emulated elsewhere,” he noted.

Palemar said that philanthropist and former president of central Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Harikrishna Punaroor, had requested him to shift the office of the circle inspector of police from Karnad Sadashiva Rao Nagar to this building. He disclosed that the commissioner has expressed his readiness to shift this office to the new building with immediate effect.

Mangalore commissioner of police, Seemant Kumar Singh, welcomed. Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president, Santosh Kumar Bhandary, presided. District deputy commissioner, Subodh Yadav, western range inspector general of police, Alok Mohan, and Mulky town panchayat president, B M Asif, participated as chief guests.

Deputy commissioner of police (crime), Mutturaya, assistant commissioner of police (Panambur), Puttamadaiah, executive engineer of Police Housing Corporation, Chandrakant, Mulky circle inspector, Shivaprakash nayak, local sub-inspector of police, Muniswamy Neelakanthan, former MLA, K Somappa Suvarna, Harikrishna Punaroor and many others were present.

Deputy commissioner of police (law and order), R Ramesh, proposed vote of thanks. Bhaskar Hegde compered the programme.
