Udupi, Nov 25: In an accident that occurred late night on Tuesday November 23 in the city, an engineering student from Manipal, who was riding the motor bike, was killed, while the pillion rider was seriously injured, after their two-wheeler hit a road divider.

Vikram (20), a native of Andhra Pradesh, who was a third year mechanical engineering student in Manipal Institute of Engineering, died in the accident. His friend, Harish, was injured. Harish is being treated in Manipal Hospital.

The above two students, along with two others named Aniruddh and Veerendranath, had visited Karavali Hotel for dinner on Tuesday in two motor bikes. While returning, reportedly the students tried to get involved in drag racing by balancing the motor bikes on single wheel. Vikram lost balance and his vehicle hit the road divider near H M T Garage in Bannanje.

On a complaint filed by Aniruddh, a case was registered in the town police station here in this connection.
