Kasargod, Nov 27: Soumya (14), daughter of Madhava, a ninth standard student of Koodlu Sri Gopalakrishna High School, and residing near Koodlu Lord Gopalakrishna temple, committed suicide at her home in the afternoon of Friday November 26.
Soumya, as usual, had gone home during lunch time from the school. When she came home, no one was present. Her mother, Lakshmi, who returned home some time thereafter, found her daughter hanging from a rope. Although she was immediately taken to a hospital, Soumya could not be saved. Reasons for the suicide are as yet unknown.
District collector, Anand Singh, and other officials visited the general hospital, after coming to know of the incident. The school authorities declared holiday in the afternoon, and organized a condolence meeting.
