Mangalore: Seminar on Initiatives In HRM Towards Healthy Industrial Relations Held

Mangalore, Nov 28: Globalization has provided ample opportunities for the human resources of this country. In the present day competitive environment in order to be successful there is a need for a modification in the attitude of management and employees alike, said said Dr Devaraj K, director, SDM College of Business Management.

He was delivering the inaugural address of the seminar on New initiatives in human resource management towards healthy industrial relations here, recently. Every organization has to make surplus by which the betterment of the society can be undertaken. The herd mentality like striking and other aspects of indiscipline are slowly disappearing from the workforce of this country. In this context human resource managers should come out of their traditional role of only taking care of the employee welfare to creating a challenging environment which most employees prefer, he said.

He added that opportunities for fully engaging the employees and also empowering them are the greatest challenge of HR. Work life balance also has to be given utmost importance. He further said that in order to create leaders in the organization, the HR managers have to be role models and emphasized the need for the HR professionals to be fully loaded with knowledge, skill and positive attitude.

Dr Mohan Singhe, assistant professor, department of Social Work, Mangalore University was the guest of honour.

In his address he stressed the need for the HR professionals to be excellent communicators. Getting correct information at the right time on all aspects affecting the work life of the employees is their right. HR has to ensure that effective communication is sent and is received by the recipient. Effective and timely communication can avoid lot of hardships and bring about efficiency, he said.

Presiding over the seminar, the chairman Shree Devi Education Trust, A Sadananda Shetty exhorted budding HR professional of tomorrow to nurture organizations and institutions to deliver results. HR has the catalyst role to make the organization productive and profitable to which the key resource that is human resource plays a vital role. HR Managers should take strategic leadership role, he added.

Principa Eunice Rego, department head of HR Sebastin K V, seminar co-ordinator Jasmine Supreetha, Vishwesha P S and Priya student co-ordinators were present on the occasion.
