Udupi, Nov 29: Addressing a meeting of party activists here on Sunday November 28, district Congress committee president, Gopal Poojary, called upon them to work hard to catapult their party to power in the coming zilla and taluk panchayat elections.

“For cleansing the dirty political environment of today, Congress needs to be equipped with power. All of you should collectively work hard for the success of our candidates,” he said. The meeting was held at the district Congress office.

Former minister, Jayaprakash Hegde, speaking on the occasion, said that most of the welfare schemes being implemented by the state government have a fair share of assistance from the central government. He accused the BJP government of claiming these schemes as its own.

Former district Congress president, M A Gafoor, and Udupi block Congress president, Pramod Madhwaraj, also addressed the meeting. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee member, Bhujanga Shetty, former MLA, Basavaraj, district youth Congress president, Prasannakumar Shetty, women’s wing president, Veronica Carnelio, and various other leaders were present.

Zilla panchayat member, Janardan Tonse, welcomed. Manjunath Udyavar presented the programme.
