Udupi, Jan 4: “Deepti Marla, who is converted to Islam religion from Hinduism, is a victim of Love Jihad. So, a law against Love Jihad should be implemented with immediate effect. The coastal districts have become the experimental laboratories of terrorists. A permanent National Investigation Agency (NIA) office should be established in Ullal,” said Sunil K R, provincial coordinator of Bajrang Dal, Karnataka South province.
Sunil was speaking at the press conference that was held in the press club of the city on Tuesday January 4. He further said, “The NIA has arrested grandson of eminent leader of Ullal late B M Idinabba. It has come to light during that raid that Deepti Marla, Hindu girl of Kodagu origin, who was studying physiotherapy in a private college of Deralakatte, has converted to Islam and changed her name as Mariyam. She is married to Anas Abdul Rehman, grandson of late Idinabba. Now she is accused of having contact with ISIS and is arrested on January 2.
“This is a systematic dragnet of loving Hindu girls in the name of love and later getting them converted to Islam and then using them in anti-national activities. These people get funds from indigenous as well as overseas people. There is a suspicion that many more terrorists of this nature are in the coastal districts and they need to be arrested immediately.
“In November 2013, Ayesha Banu and her husband Zubair Hussain, residents of Panjimogaru in Mangaluru were arrested for providing financial assistance to the accused in the Patna blast. They were taken to Lakkisarai of Bihar and handed over to the police over there. This is an example of Hindu girl Asha becoming a victim of Love Jihad. Hence, an ordinance has to be taken out in Karnataka against Love Jihad.
“In August 2008, Mangaluru police along with help from Mumbai police, had raided three places in Ullal at around 3 am and found out the base of infamous terrorist organization of Indian Mujahideen. Haleangadi resident Ahmed Bawa Aboobacker, Sanda Subhash Nagar resident Mohammed Naushad and his accomplices Javed, Mohammed Ali, Fakir and Rafiq were arrested.
“NIA has arrested Nazrul Huda, resident of Permude in Bajpe, for having contact with international infamous group ISIS. In October 2013, Yasin Bhatkal, founder of Indian Mujahideen was arrested in Bhatkal and the activities of terrorists in the coastal districts became news all over the country.
“There is suspicion of the involvement of terrorist organizations behind the attempt to set fire to the Bunder police station and murder police Ganesh Kamath. In addition, recently the attempt to assault and murder policemen in Uppinangady police station also seems to be an act of terrorists.
“NIA, Anti-Terrorist Squad and other investigating agencies of the country have visited Mangaluru near 20 times in the last eight years. This clearly shows that the coastal districts are used as the base for the activities of terrorist organization,” he said.
An appeal was made to establish permanent office of NIA in Mangaluru.
Puneet Attavar, district convener, Surendra Koteshwar, district convener and Bharath Kumudel, district convener of Puttur were present.
