8,906 new Covid cases reported in Karnataka, positivity rate crosses 5%

Bengaluru, Jan 8: Karnataka on Saturday January 8 registered another spike in the number of coronavirus cases, with the state reporting as many as 8,906 new infections.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state have risen to 38,507. Among the districts, Bengaluru Urban once again registered the highest number of single-day cases with 7,113 new infections, while Dakshina Kannada reported 295 cases and Mysuru 203.

Four deaths due to coronavirus were reported in the state on Saturday, among which three were from Bengaluru Urban and one from Kalaburagi. With this, the toll so far stands at 38,366.

The state recorded 508 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 29,63,056.

So far, Karnataka has seen 30,39,958 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day has risen sharply to 5.42%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 0.04%.

Omicron cases in the state have risen to 333. No new Omicron cases were reported on Saturday.

As many as 8,95,47,444 vaccination doses have been administered so far.

    Don't do lockdown. Put police in public place ,public transportation, school colleges and villages to monitor whether people and politicians are following covid rules.Impose fine for those who violated covid protocols.Give lathi charge for people and politicians who are forming crowds .Also police should announce using mic that omicron is dangerous virus in public places so that people and politicians will fear and follow covid rules..
