Bantwal, Dec 9: The annual feast of Our Lady of Vailankanni parish, Farla, near here, was held on Wednesday December 8.

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza celebrated the festal Holy Mass along with parish priest Fr Manohar Noronha, deanery vicar and Modankap parish priest Fr Roque D’Souza, Pallottine priests, and deanery clergies at Farla church here on Wednesday morning.

Earlier, Bishop D’Souza blessed the foundation stone laid for building the church hall, as the parish was experiencing a shortage of space to conduct Catechism and other small functions in the parish. The Bishop also presented blessed candles to the sponsors of the annual feast on the occasion.

Farla parish had formed a part of Agrar parish in the past and the late Bishop Basil D’Souza declared an independent parish on December 8, 1994. Since then, the parish community celebrates the annual feast on the same day.

A large number of faithful, including the parishioners, attended the festal celebrations.
