Mangalore, Dec 23: Wednesday December 22 was the first day for the withdrawal of nominations relating to zilla and taluk panchayat elections. In Dakshina Kannada district, 32 taluk panchayat (TP) nominations and 19 zilla panchayat (ZP) nominations were withdrawn on the first day. Taluk-wise figures of withdrawals are as follows:

Mangalore (ZP – 6, TP – 13), Sullia (ZP – 3, TP – 6), Bantwal (ZP – 7, TP – 2), Puttur (ZP – 3, TP – 10), Beltangady (TP – 1). In Beltangady taluk, none of the zilla panchayat nominations were withdrawn.

December 23 happens to be the last date for the withdrawal of nominations. Final party-wise list of candidates in the fray would be known by today evening.
