Bengaluru, Feb 5: The State Government has given approval for issuance of about 4 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Above Poverty Line (APL) cards in the State, which will be distributed through the Grama One Centres, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Saturday.
He was speaking to district administration and grama one operators on the progress in the implementation of the Grama One scheme in Karnataka through video conferencing.
The Chief Minister said the State Government has entrusted the responsibility of discharging its functions and authority to the grama one centres and exhorted the grama one centre operators to deal politely and courteously with the people in solving the problems of the people.
It is not necessary to obtain all details in writing. The ‘Kutumba’ and 'Janasevaraka' softwares also provide details of citizens. The grama one centre operators must help the government in its mission of
helping the citizens and eliminate the necessity of the people running around to government offices frequently.
The grama one operators must guide the people in providing necessary assistance and guidance in case of any difficulties and go to the extent of giving valid reasons if the information sought cannot be complied with, Bommai said and asked them to approach their superior officers to minimise rejections of applications.
The Chief Minister explained that senior citizens, poor land the physically challenged persons must be given priority to ensure that grama one centres must help all sections of people within their limitations. The grama one operators are the representatives of the government and must function with responsibility, he said.
He announced that the State Government will choose three operators every month during the next 12 months and present them with first, second and third prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 each every month through the e-administration department as part of the strategy to improve the efficiency among the grama one operators. The best district in terms of performance will be conferred a cash prize
of Rs 1 lakh every month.
The Chief Minister also participated in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between KSRLPS and Amazon on implementing the Sanjivini scheme.
Eliminating poverty is a major challenge and said the cooperation of government and organisations like Amazon were key in solving the poverty alleviation, especially in rural areas and among women and for their empowerment.
Higher Education and Skill Development Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said the MoU between Amazon and KSELPS would go a long way in empowering women and support small enterprises as also rural produicts.
Amazon Chief Chetan Krishnaswamy said the company was committed to provide good market for products prepared by women and support small and medium enterprises.
Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner Vandita Sharma, Skill Development Department Secretary Selva Kumar and Commissioner Manjushree were present at the function.
