Mangalore: Tickets for TP, ZP - Vishwakarma Community Alleges Negligence

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (PS/SB)

Mangalore, Dec 28: Alevoor Yogish Achar, president of Vishwakarma Union complained that all political parties have hurt the sentiments of Vishwakarma community by not giving any chance to people of Vishwakarma community while selecting candidates for the zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat elctions.

He was addressing a press conference on Tuesday December 28. Thousands of party workers have worked for BJP, Congress and JD(S). Though many of them have all qualities to contest in ZP and TP election, some local activists have pressurized the party leaders to resort to caste based calculation.

Pointing out that the people of Vishwakarma community have played a major role in bringing BJP into power, he said the party leaders in return have denied the tickets to contest in reserve and general constituency. Again two taluk panchayat seats which have been given is a constituency wherein party never won or will not in future. This is an act of eyewash, he criticized.

He warned that since the community play a major role in Mangalore south, Puttur, Beltangady, Udupi, Moodbidri, Karkala, Kundapur and Kaup constituency, the party should not take advantage of the patience of the community.

Honorary president S V Achar, vice-president Gopalkrishna Achar and Sanjeeva Achar among others were present.
