Mangalore: Work Begins on Underground Drainage System in Ullal

Mangalore, Jan 4:
“At a cost of Rs 61.71 crore, an underground drainage system will be made available for Ullal town residents soon,” informed MLA U T Khader at a press conference held at the district
Congress office on Monday January 3. He sought the co-operation of all the residents while the work was being done.

The ‘Bhoomi Pooja’ of the project will be performed this week by district-In-charge minister Krishna J Palemar. Khader told presspersons that the funds had already been released by the state government about three months ago.

“The scheme has been prepared keeping in mind the population of the area over the next 30 years,” he added. In order to implement the scheme, the total area of Ullal Town Council has been divided into 12
zones.

He said that work on the first zone work is expected to be accomplished before the commencement of the next monsoon. “The construction of manholes and drainage lines at a cost of Rs 18.93 crore in these zones will be done using modern technology,” he said.

The project includes around 2,562 manholes and a total of 77.94 km long PVC and RCC (160mm to 800mm diameter) drainage line.

    Ullal town is surrounded with fine scenic spots, the picnic spots as well as nice tourist spots. We shall be travelling to Beeri often and the scenic drive through Ullal will be an added atrraction.

    Good drainage, good sewage, good roads with good water system, power system and sanitary system will make the counry beautiful and attractive.

    Quality of tourism depends upon good organization with good planning so that the people enjoy paying the taxes and reaping the right benefits.

    Our future generation will admire the good planners of our city that have made all the above to happen with good amenities of life.
