Mangaluru: Biker survives after getting under tanker wheel for 90 minutes

Mangaluru, Mar 14: After an empty tanker tumbled in front of Gurpur Vajradehi Math at Gurpur on national highway 169 on Sunday March 13, a bike and its rider got stuck under its wheel. This accident happened at 3 pm on Sunday March 13.

Manish, residing near the Jangam Math, Gurpur, got trapped under the tanker wheel along with his bike. He was riding his bike towards Vamanjoor from Gurpur when the tanker hit his bike in front of the Vajradehi Math. Due to the force of the accident, both the rider and the bike fell under the tanker which fell by its side.

Only the head and eyes of Manish were visible from under the tanker wheel. After an operation lasting 90 minutes, Manish was rescued. It took an hour to get the crane from Baikampady. Thereafter the tanker was lifted from its spot and Manish was released from the ordeal of being unable to move. As there was some space under the fallen tanker, Manish did not suffer any grave injuries. As he sustained minor injuries, he was admitted into a local hospital.
