Udupi, Mar 16: Deputy commissioner (DC) of the district, Kurma Rao, said that it is the duty of everyone to respect the high court verdict. He was speaking to the media after visiting the government girls PU college here on Wednesday March 16.

He noted that holiday was declared for the institutions on Tuesday in view of the delivery of judgment by the high court. At the same time, prohibitory orders were issued in order to avoid celebrations, processions and disturbances, he added.

"All the colleges are operating normally today. We have taken all kinds of measures to ensure that peace as well as law and order situation in the district are maintained properly. We will consider the issue of students who remained absent from examinations. Currently, the attendance percentage stands at 91," he noted.
