Udupi: MAHE launches Manipal Entrepreneurship Summit

Udupi, Mar 18: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), launched the 5th Edition of their annual flagship event, Manipal Entrepreneurship Summit (MES) on March 17. The summit was launched by Dr Venkatraya M Prabhu, pro vice chancellor (Health Sciences) MAHE who was the chief guest for the event. MES will be held between March 17 to April 2.

The 5th edition of MES is jointly organized by Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) of MIT, Manipal incubators and various Innovation and Entrepreneurship (InE) supporting units of MAHE. Various online programs like webinar on Metaverse, case study analysis of startups/companies, debate on various topics related to economics, interactive sessions with entrepreneurs and workshop on entrepreneurs, will be held during March 17 to 30.

The finale of the event will be held between April 1 and 2. About eight entrepreneurs (who are alumni of MIT, MCOPS, TAPMI, WGHSA) from various walks of entrepreneurial journey and spread across India will be participating as resource persons during the finale. Various sessions of finale include keynote talk by industry expert, story of entrepreneurs, panel discussion of essentials of entrepreneurship, business & finance, pitch tank and startup fair. More than 40 startups, teams who have developed innovative products and various Innovation and Entrepreneurship (InE) units of MAHE will be part of the startup fair.

Dr Venkatraya M Prabhu, pro vice chancellor (Health Sciences), Manipal Academy of Higher Education and the chief guest for the launch said, “Manipal Academy of Higher Education has always encouraged the spirit of entrepreneurship. Our students can see the example of our very own founder T M A Pai to understand the power of entrepreneurial capability. 1922 was a landmark year when founder of MAHE decided to transform Manipal from a barren sleepy village to an international town and a global educational hub which it is today. I encourage the students to participate and take advantage of the entrepreneurship initiatives by MIT and MAHE as it can transform their lives”

Speaking at the event commander Dr Anil Rana, director, Manipal Institute of Technology said, “Successful Entrepreneurships can be developed by the promotion of developmental attributes. MAHE and MIT have always strived to build a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. Our flagship event Manipal Entrepreneurship Summit (MES) is organised every year with this objective in mind. Through MES we aim to create awareness amongst students and faculty alike on the importance of entrepreneurial acumen”

MAHE has supported more than 250 innovators and 60 startups in the last decade. It is home to two Technology Business Incubators and currently more than 35 startups are incubated. To further strengthen its InE ecosystem, MAHE has declared 2022 as the year of Innovation and Entrepreneurship on the occasion of 75th year of India’s Independence.

Dr M Vijay Kini, Convener of MES spoke on the overview of MES 2022 and the events that will held in the forthcoming days. Saish J Shetty, chairperson, entrepreneurship cell of MIT Manipal, gave the details of the events to be conducted.
