Bommai reiterates govt’s commitment for development of Kalyana Karnataka

Bengaluru, Mar 19: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who is on a day-long visit to Yadgir and Kalaburgi districts on Saturday, reiterated his government’s firm commitment for the comprehensive development of the entire Kalyana Karnataka region.

The Chief Minister, who launched and laid the foundation stone for over Rs 1000 crore worth developmental works in Yadgir district, mentioned that he had already allocated a record Rs 3,000 crore for the Kalyana Karnataka Development Board and explained that the launch of various programmes in Yadgir district was part of the government’s commitment.

Education, health and malnutrition were the major priority areas, he said while stressing the need for implementation of the recommendations of the Dr DM Nanjunandappa panel’s recommendations for setting right the regional imbalances in the State.

Speaking to reporters, he said the government was seriously considering including teaching of Bhagawad Gita in the school curriculum in order to inculcate moral values in the students. The matter will be discussed with the minister, officials and experts before taking a final decision, he said.

Water Resources Minister Govind M Karjol, Revenue Minister R Ashok, Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chavan, Raichuru MP Amaresh Naik, MLAs Raju Gowda and Sharanabasappa Darshahapur, Deputy Commissioner Ragapriya and others accompanied the Chief Minister.
