Mangalore: Blood Donation Held as Part of Physio Week 2011

Mangalore, Jan 22: As a part of Physio Week 2011 and 7th All India Physiotherapy Students Conference, a Blood Donation was organized at Government Wenlock Hospital on Saturday January 22.
This blood donation is been organized for the past 11 years in Government Wenlock Hospital by the physios. This time it will be 1000th unit of blood donated by the physio’s of city.


Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, superintendent of police, DK inaugurated the event and donated the 1000th unit of blood. Rao had already donated blood 22 times and this was his 23rd time of blood donation.

Speaking on the occasion he said “the new advances in medicine have added years to life but physiotherapy has made the life better to live”. The guests of honour for the event were M Ramgopal Shetty, secretary, Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust, Dr Pp Saroja, DMO, Government Wenlock Hospital, Dr Kiran Shetty, trustee, City Education Trust and Dr Suchitra Rao, Blood Bank officer, Government Wenlock Hospital.

Over 100 donors from various physiotherapy colleges participated in the event and donated blood.
The blood donors will have a lucky draw during the 7th All India Physiotherapy Students Conference which will be held on January 25 and the lucky donor will be awarded with a gold ring.
