Kasargod: Agencies to probe team's Yemen visit for religious education

Kasargod, Mar 21: Different intelligence agencies have begun a probe into the visit of a team from Kerala to Yemen to undergo religious education there without any diplomatic sanction or approvals. The team which visited Yemen had 14 members comprising residents of Kasargod and their close relatives.

It is said that these 14 people from Vidyanagara Uliyathadka S P Nagara here, his wife, father-in-law, mother and other women and children had together travelled to Yemen. They have since returned through Kozhikode airport from Muscat. The investigating agencies have collected their emigration details from the airport officials.

The team had left for Yemen, a month ago. They had reached Salalah in Oman and from there planned to go to Sana'a, capital of Yemen. But the officials at the Yemen check post sent them back to India.

All the 14 belong to Dais sect among Salafis who predominantly are into goat farming and imparting religious education.
