Bengaluru: Students attend class taken by robot, raise questions, appreciate experience

Bengaluru, Mar 24: To test the efficiency and efficacy of the Eagle Robot that is meant to assist both the students and teachers and to make the learning process easier, a demonstration was organized at the girls’ government high school at the 13th cross, Malleshwaram here. Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, minister for higher education, who also is the MLA representing this constituency, was present.

The teachers and students of the high school participated in the programme and saw for themselves the working of the robot. They raised several questions to the robot and were surprised at the accurate answers it provided.

Speaking thereafter, the minister said that this was a programme meant to demonstrate the robot's functional efficacy. He opined that such robots will be helpful for providing global standard teaching in government educational institutions. “Robots can never be alternatives to teachers. The 21st century is the century of technology and utilizing robots in teaching is very much necessary. They can help us to attract students just like the private institutions. The poor children also will stand to benefit," he felt. He also said that this robot will be demonstrated in chief minister Basavaraj Bommai's presence. There are plans to get the scheme launched by him and to use them in the government educational institutions in Malleshwaram constituency," he revealed.

Indus Trust founder chief executive officer and managing director, Lt Gen Arjun Roy, Malleshwaram block education officer Umadevi, college principal Dr Ravi, vice principal Ravikumar etc were present.
