Dubai: Karnataka Sangha’s Cookery and Talent Contests Big Hit With Audience

Dubai, Jan 31: Karnataka Sangha Dubai organized a cookery contest for women and a talent show for children as part of its going silver jubilee celebrations on Friday 28 January from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm at Fortune Grand Hotel, Dubai.

The event was hosted by the women’s wing of the Karnataka Sangha under the leadership of Dr Rashmi. The culinary skills of Kannadiga women won the hearts of the judges.










































 

The food prepared by the contestants included ‘Raagi Halwa’, ‘Godhi Huggi’, ‘Sorekai Payasa’, ‘Sapada Bhaksya’, ‘Avalakki Bisibele Bhath’, Veg Stuffed ‘Modaka’, Tender Coconut Pudding, Blueberry Cheese Cake, Banana Crumble, Dry Fruit Pie, Pumpkin Delight, Prawns ‘Sukka’, Mangalore special ‘Kori Sukka – Neer Dosa’, Mixed ‘Tawa’ Veg, and ‘Mirch ka Salan’. Children prepared salads, snacks, and fruit salads.

A special attraction was the future chefs at work in the children’s category which got a good response.

Talented children participated in dancing, singing, and karate and got appreciation from the audience. Akshata won the prize for singing while Sanjana, Vijeta Tantry, and Aishwarya Gajre won the prizes for dancing. There were many spot games for the ladies with excellent prizes. Saritha Kirodian, Usha Shetty, Pramila Bhat were the judges for the talent show.

1st Prize: Neeta Puthran
2nd Prize: Padmini Shdhindra Aithal
3rd Prize: Suma Gajre

Vegetarian Dish:
1st Prize: Rajani
2nd Prize: Ashrita Guruprasad
3rd Prize: Revathi Puthran

Non-Veg Dish:
1st Prize: Shyamala Krishna
2nd Prize: Nalini Deepak
3rd Prize: Shweta Dhruvkumar

Children:
1st Prize: Aishwarya Gajre
2nd Prize: Anurag Kamath
3rd Prize: Aashish Harish Kodi

Suresh Kumar, executive chef, Atlantis Hotel, Savitha Ravish Gowda, Fortune Grand Hotel, Mahadev, executive chef, Ramee Group of Hotels, were the judges for the cookery contest and were felicitated with mementos.

Chief guest Ravish Gowda, MD, Fortune Grand Hotel, and Savitha Ravish Gowda graced the prize distribution ceremony and congratulated all the winners and presented the prizes along with event committee members.

General secretary K R Tantry thanked the main sponsor Satish Venkatramana of Chilly Willy and congratulated all contestants and the audience who witnessed this event.

Members of women’s wing of the Sangha - Dr Rashmi Nandkishore, Aparna Krishnamoorthy, Meena Harish Kodi, Reshma Kulkarni, Suma Gajare, Rashmi Manohar Hegde, Chaithra Karthik, Sulatha K R Tantry, and Deepa Jagannath have contributed to the success of the event with the support of the executive committee.

Dr Nandkishore compered the event in her signature style.

    indeed it was a good programme for ladies.
    there was involvemnt of many ladies to make this programme a sucess. Everyone has taken equal responsibilites and leadership.
    hope people realise this and acknowledge the efforts of other people too.
