Mangalore: Accidental Fire Destroys House in Haleangady

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 3: A house belonging to Abdul Khader near the mosque in  Saag, Halengady in the taluk, was gutted on Wednesday February 2 afternoon. The house caught fire when no one was inside. Electric short circuit is suspected to be the reason for the fire. The family was away at Yermal when the incident occurred.

Refrigerator, clothes, furniture and other valuables in the house were destroyed in the fire. Although the fire brigade was called from the city, the vehicles could not reach the spot because of narrow approach, it is reported. As the locals brought out gas cylinders from the house, immediately after sighting flames flying from the tiled roof of the house, the cylinder blast, which could have spread fire to nearby houses, was averted.

Mulky policemen, Haleangady gram panchayat president, Mabahala V Salian, and others visited the spot.
