Karkala: Sri Vidyabodhini Aided Higher Primary School Celebrates Platinum Jubilee

Karkala, Feb 3: The Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of Sri Vidyabodhini Aided Higher Primary School, Kedinge was held, recently. A number of projects were taken up throughout the year. They were of much benefit to the society and hence were appreciated by one and all.

 

 

 

 

  


On the main day of celebration, the programme began with the hoisting of the flag by Jayram Salian, president, Bola Gram Panchayath.  It was followed by a march-past by the students.  The formal function was held later. The chief guest Shailaja Hegde, education co-ordinator, Belman range was very happy about the fully equipped school situated in the beautiful surroundings. She said that the children studying in the school were very lucky. She requested the parents to see that their children attended the school regularly.

Jayaram Salian said that he was proud that such a worthy school was in his Panchayath area. He promised to render the maximum help to the school through the Panchayath. At 4.00 pm a procession was taken from the Mission Compound where the school was initially situated to the present campus. More than 500 people participated in the procession. The female member of Sri Dharmasthala Rural Development Project held the Kalasha. All of them were clad in uniform which added further charm to the procession.

The variety of dance by bancy models of Belthangady Giridhar Shetty troupe enthralled the audience. The accompaniment of the band set and saxophones had added to the dignity of procession. Later all the people assembled in the campus of the school. The old student entertained the gathering with filmy dances. The anganawadi children also performed a number of dances.

The formal function was held in the evening. It was presided over by C Rangadhamappa, BEO Karkala. He said that education brings culture and discipline in life. The co-operation of the parents with the teachers goes long way in achieving this. He greatly appreciated the efforts of the correspondent in securing the co-operation of the public.

The chief guest professor Padmanabha Gowda, principal Bhuvanedra Collage, Karkala, remarked that the institution was a model on in the true sense of the term. He unveiled the photo of Late Subbanna Kamath, the former correspondent of the school. He also released the souvenir ‘vidhyamritha’.

K  Anil Kumar, the headmaster placed before the audience the annual report of the school. Santosh Shetty, secretary, Old Students Association presented the annual report of the association.  The toast proposal was done by a worthy of student of the school, B Vishwanath Kamath, the retired Divisional Manager of Canara Bank.  Vasantha M, C R P of Nandalike. Mundkur cluster inaugurated the hand magazine prepared by the students. He expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the students.

Raghurama Shetty of Hotel Rama Dev, Belgaum, an old student of the school and also the honorary president of the Platinum Jubilee celebration committee was honored for having successfully organizing the programme.

The National Award winner headmaster,  Belady Vittal Shetty was the master of ceremony and                Prathveeraj Ballal proposed the vote of thanks. The students of the Vidyasri Nrithyalaya entertained the audience with Bharatha-natyam programme. The students presented a field drama ‘Bhaktha Markandeya’.

A debate entitled ‘Chavadi Churche’ was held by the old students. They discussed about the past, the present and the future of the institution. There was also an entertainment programme comprising of the filmy dances, folk dances, kolata and yoga and so on. Later the formal function was held. It was presided over by B Rahul Kamath, proprietor, Bolas cashunuts, Shailaja Hegde, education co-ordinator, Belman range was the chief guest. She pointed out the need for maintaining the standard of education.

Sunil Kumar, former M L A launched the school bus donated by the well wishers of the school by handing over the key of the vehicle to the correspondent of the school. He appreciated the efforts of Kannada medium school to provide such facilities and he hoped that many more facilities may be available for the students in the near future.

The major donors- Omkar Nayak, Usha Shetty, the donor edusat scheme, donors of the mixy  Santhosh and Gopal Moolya, the provider of the endowment Hema Rajan, Goa, retired teachers, honorary teachers, elderly old students and the staff members were  felicitated in the programme.

U Sheshagiri  Kamath, the correspondent of the school, K Anil Kumar, the headmaster,  B H Shivarama Acharya, the president of the Old Students Association,  Sunitha Nayak the president of the Parent Teacher’s Association,  B Suresh Kamath, the president of the organizing Committee, and N Thukarama Shetty , president Jubilee Celebrations Committee were  present on the dais.

N Thukarama Shetty welcomed the gathering.  K Anil Kumar introduced the donors; N Sudhakara Rao introduced the persons to be honored.  Belady Vittal Shetty compered the entire programme. Rekha Pai proposed the vote of thanks.

The drama ‘Mangala’ was presented by the old students girls’ wing, and the tulu drama  ‘Macchared Mattel’was presented by the students boys’ wing along with the help of the local artites.
