Udupi, Feb 8: After two groups of labourers fought with each other at Manipal, a labourer lost his life. The incident occurred at Saralebettu in Manipal on Sunday February 6. The deceased has been identified as Toofan Nayak (26) from Orissa.

The policemen of Manipal station have taken into custody Hanumantappa from Lingsugur in Raichur district, Basavaraj from Navalagund in Haveri district, and Ramanna from Mundarigi in Gadag district. Reportedly, Nayak was under the influence of some intoxicating substance.

It is said that there has been lack of coordination between groups of labourers of North India and North Karnataka origins, giving rise to group clashes between them.
