M’lore: Mangalore Custom House Agents Association Conducts Special Training

Mangalore, Feb 8: The Mangalore Custom House Agents Association conducted a special training to the Traders and to its Members, who are transacting trade business at New Mangalore Port and Customs Commissionerate. Training was held at Mangalore on Feb 5 at the Conference Hall of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mangalore.
 
The Commissioner of Customs Ajith Kumar, IRS inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. The President of KCCI G G Mohandas Prabhu was the Guest of Honour. President of CHAA, Phillip CC welcomed the gathering. The Commissioner of Customs in his address mentioned that the relationship between the Custom House Agents and Customs is of a different nature where as Custom House Agent is the main link in the trade for Importers and Exporters and Customs in practicing the procedures of customs and collection of Revenue for the country. Customs have peculiar role with Custom House Agent where one side it co operating and allowing the CHAA to work in the Customs as friend in another angle is ready to take severe action and impose fine and penalty if anything goes wrong against Customs Act & regulations. He assured full support for CHAA of Mangalore.
 
The President of Kanara Chamber while addressing mentioned that all work in progress for extending the infrastructure at Mangalore Airport for declaring the Customs station for Import and Export at the Airport also mentioned the Ministry is very happy with Mangalore Trade and promised sufficient funds for the development of Trade and passengers at the Airport. Charles Stephen Secretary of CHAA proposed vote of thanks.
 
After the inauguration, training programme was conducted on "Re-Charge Skills for a Better Execution of Work”. The faculty who conducted the session was, Samir J Shah - JBS Academy Ahmedabad, Anubhav Kumar - Customs EDI Incharge, Mathew - Customs EDI Manager, K. Pradeep - Exim Alert Software Solution Pvt Ltd.
 
Around 80 participants attended and well participated in the programme.In the evening at the valedictory function Additional Commissioner of Customs Ajazuddin distributed the course certificate to all the participants and assured good support and co-operation to Mangalorians. Function ended with the vote of thanks proposed by the Vice President of CHAA Edward Ceolho and National Anthem.
