Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 9: City police commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh, has suspended Lingappa Poojary, police circle inspector attached to the rural police station here. The main allegation against Lingappa Poojary is that he has failed in regulating illegal activities going on a bar located in the outskirts of the city.

Reportedly, illegal activities were going on in a bar located on Konaje Road in Tokkottu near here, since some time. In a raid conducted in the recent past on the said bar, five girls in skimpy clothes and behaving provocatively, were nabbed. It is said that people living in the neighbourhood of the said bar had complained to the policemen many a time, but that the policemen had failed to initiate proper action on the issue.

An inquiry conducted by Panambur assistant commissioner of police, Puttamadaiah, in this matter, had found circle police inspector, Lingappa Poojary, guilty of dereliction of duty. On the basis of this report, he was suspended on Tuesday February 8.

It is said that higher officials in the department are also unhappy at the fact that the said police officer had not taken stern steps towards regulating illegal transportation of sand.
