Puttur: Married Woman Takes Paramour’s Help to Kill Husband

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Feb 10: Rafique (45), a resident of Old Station in Kodimbala village in the taluk, was murdered late night on Tuesday February 8. His wife, Rukhiya alias Seema (37), allegedly killed him with the help of her paramour, Abdul Shariff (42) from Kodimbala. Reportedly, the alleged killers were angry at Rafique’s opposition to their illicit relationship.

Rafique, a native of Purusharakatte Mayingala here, had married Rokhiya, daughter of Adam Saheb from Kodimbala village about 18 years back. After the marriage, he set up a house near the home of his in-laws in Kodimbala, and lived there with wife and three children. He did not have a permanent job, and eked out a living by selling scrap, fresh fish, etc.

Of late, Rukhiya reportedly had come closer to Abdul Shariff, father of three children, who worked as a mason. This gave rise to frequent frictions between Rukhiya and her husband, and the matter even had been referred to the policemen once. Allegedly, Rukhiya invited Abdul Shariff on Tuesday night to her home, and killed Rafique, who was fast asleep, by strangulating him with Shariff’s help. Although Rukhiya claimed that her husband had died of cardiac arrest, the neighbours, who suspected foul play after witnessing blood clot marks around Rafique’s neck, informed the policemen. During police interrogation, the two are said to have confessed their guilt.

Additional superintendent of police, Prabhakar, deputy superintendent of police, B J Bhandary, and circle inspector, K Srikant, visited the spot. Kadaba sub-inspector of police, Paul Praiyakumar, has registered a case.
