Udupi, Feb 10: The feast of ‘Our Lady of Lourdes’ will be celebrated at kanajar here on Friday, February 11 with solemnity.

Kanajar is the only parish dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes in Mangalore diocese.
The parish was erected in 1938 and ever since then, not only Catholics, even non- catholics have great devotion to the Lady of Lourdes.

Non Catholics call her as ‘Mariamma Dever’. They come to the church in times of their needs and light the candles to Lady of Lourdes.

As a preparation for the feast, three-day tridum was started on Tuesday February 8.

On Friday, the festive mass will be at 10.30 am. Fr Valerian D’Silva will be the main celebrant. Lot of other priests are expected to concelebrate at the Eucharist. Morning at 7.00 am there will be another mass. After the mass there are special prayers for the sick people who will be anointed with the holy olive oil.

The parish priest Fr Alwyn D’Cunha along with parish pastoral parishad has extended all the devotees of Lourdes Saibin, a warm and cordial invite for the feast.
