Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 11: A person who arrived at the local airport from Dubai by an Air India Express flight by using a fake passport, was taken into custody by the immigration officials on Wednesday February 9 evening.

He has been identified as Ummer Farooq (34), resident of Toominadu in Kunjattur, Kasargod. Allegedly, he had used a passport belonging to Ummer Kalakandur Mohammed, a resident of Bazar Street, Mandya.

The officials claim that in 1994, he had gone to Saudi Arabia via Mumbai by showing a fake birth certificate to the officials for getting his passport, as his age was less than 21 then. He had come back after working there for 18 months. In 2004, he had secured another passport by using the same record, and had gone to Dubai. He came back in 2006.

He went to Dubai on a visiting visa in 2007 and worked there as driver. The officials arrested him on his arrival here, after finding out that the passport he possessed happened to be fake.
