Karkala, May 4: In another blow to the sinking ship of Udupi Congress, two more leaders of the party have now decided to file their resignation to the party. Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj and Muniyal Udaykumar Shetty, a party leader and aspirant for the Karkala Vidhana Sabha Constituency has now decided to quit the party.
Muniyal Uday Kumar Shetty earlier held the positions of Udupi district Congress vice President and was a promising leader of the party in the Karkala - Hebri regions.
He was a ticket aspirant during the 2018 Vidhana Sabha election. But as former CM Veerappa Moily wanted his son to contest from Karkala the inter - party issue was dragged into streets and many protests were also held against Veerappa Moily by the Muniyal supporters. Later on, Congress gave the ticket to Gopal Bhandary from Karkala.

He also served as the vice president of Udupi district Congress, but he resigned from the position years ago.
Muniyal Uday Kumar Shetty was the only choice left for the Congress in Karkala. With his exit from the party Congress has now lost the grip over Karkala constituency and left with no choice but bring an outsider for contesting elections.
Many youth leaders have also expressed their displeasure over the party's decisions. "Youths are not encouraged to come forward in the party. The age-old leaders still want to stick to the chairs", said a youth leader from Karkala in a condition of anonymity.
On the other hand former minister Pramodh Madhwaraj is also expected to exit from the party soon. After loosing the 2019 Lok Sabha election Pramod Madhwaraj started to maintain distance from the active politics. His absence was a matter of concern for the Congress party and due to this issue differences had appeared among the party workers and it was even expressed publicly.
Pramodh Madhwaraj was appointed as KPCC vice President. Even after getting a position in KPCC he has not been involved in the active politics. Recently during an encounter with the media on the question of his role as a KPCC vice president he had asserted, "The party has appointed me as KPCC vice president. But no responsibilities have been given so far."
According to top sources Pramod Madhwaraj will soon exit from the Congress party and he is expected to follow his mother's footsteps.
The news of Pramod quitting the party was making the rounds since the last MLA elections. It's now all eyes on Pramod Madhwaraj for his next move.
